ICP Forests
The European monitoring program ICP Forests was adopted in 1985 under the Geneva Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution. The program coordination is the responsibility of the Thünen Institute of Forest Ecosystems.
The data presented here comes from Level II monitoring for Brandenburg and Berlin. The observations are divided into various survey programs according to the corresponding ICP Forests sampling instructions. The data portal is intended to provide a quick overview of the most important observations and facilitate the use of ICP Forests data.
All surveys are normally submitted once a year on February 15 for the monitoring year before last year. The reason for the delayed data delivery is the long processing times, for example for laboratory analyses. If possible, efforts are made to deliver data earlier.
Data portal
For the use of the data, the English nomenclature of ICP Forests is needed. This is why no German translation is provided here. Each survey refers to the current ICP Forests manual and the corresponding online documentation.
When new data are delivered to the Program Coordination Center (PCC), this data is mirrored in our database. This ensures that the latest data from the monitoring program for Brandenburg and Berlin is always available.
In the case of sensor data, which is usually collected daily via remote data transmission, a preliminary publication is also offered. In order to be able to retrieve daily updated data from the meteorology (MM) and growth (GR) survey programs, the corresponding sensor IDs are indexed with +10000.
In order to be able to offer closed time series, attempts are made to fill in gaps where possible. In the case of meteorological measurements, this is done, for example, by integrating regionalized measurements from the climate data portal (CDC) of the German Weather Service (DWD). When filling gaps, corresponding sensor IDs are indexed with +20000.
